Artist Jim Schantz has organized an art exhibition for this summer to honor the Housatonic. The exhibit is located in the historic Stockbridge train station building, and runs through September 4, 2017.
The River Art Project features five recognized painters who work with the river as their subject matter; Bart Elsbach, Mary Sipp Green, Stephen Hannock, Scott Prior and Jim Schantz.
Presentations on the river’s environment, challenges and successes will be made by multiple organizations including two featuring HVA:
- July 19, 6 pm: “What is the Quality of Our Rivers?” Find out more about the water quality of our river habitats, and discover what simple things you can do to help keep our rivers and lakes healthy. Presented by Alison Dixon, HVA’s Berkshire outreach manager.
- August 9, 6 pm: “Paddling Source to Sound” HVA Berkshires director Dennis Regan talks about the experiences and adventures of his 10 day, 150 mile paddle from Hinsdale Massachusetts to Long Island Sound through stories, photos and video snippets..
Half of the net proceeds of each sale will be donated equally to the Housatonic Valley Association and Riverkeeper.
