At HVA’s Auction for the Environment, Every Winning Bid Supports a Greener Tomorrow

November 5, 2025 By HVA Admin

Silent auction opens online Monday, November 10, at 2 p.m.

Environmental enthusiasts are invited to attend the annual Housatonic Valley Association Auction for the Environment on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at South Farms in Morris, Connecticut. This is the nonprofit’s largest fundraiser of the year, and every winning bid on luxurious getaways, unique experiences and local adventures supports HVA’s education, land conservation and river restoration work across the tri-state Housatonic River watershed.

The event, which brings together supporters from Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York, starts at 3 p.m. and is a lively celebration of conservation excellence and enhanced access to outdoor spaces for all. Tickets and sponsorships are available online in advance.

HVA Board member Christine Baranski, critically acclaimed Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress and star of CBS’s The Good Fight and HBO’s The Gilded Age, will host the event and is chairing the Benefit Auction Committee with her daughter, Lily Cowles, and co-chair Elyse Harney Morris. Auctioneer Sherry Truhlar of Red Apple Auctions will take the helm during the live bidding, hyping up packages like a VIP experience donated by late-night host Seth Meyers.

New to the event this year is the “Winner’s Choice Raffle,” where every $100 ticket is a chance to walk away with one of five live auction or premium silent auction items, including vacation packages to Willamette Valley, Oregon, and Chattanooga, Tennessee: all with values ranging from $1,000 to priceless. 150 total raffle tickets are available on the auction website, and participants do not have to be present at the in-person event to win.

In addition, a silent auction, which opens online on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 2 p.m. and concludes during the in-person event, features enticing packages including regional stays, restaurant certificates, performance tickets and original artwork. HVA invites everyone to sign up for online bidding at hvatoday.org (at no cost).

“Amid ongoing climate concerns, we have an opportunity to act now and protect this beautiful place so many people love, and HVA’s auction is a fun and meaningful way to help,” says Baranski.

In addition to Baranski, Cowles, and Harney Morris, auction committee members include Rebecca Neary, Pam and Jack Baker, Philippa Durrant, Margo Martindale, Diane Meier, Seth and Alexi Meyers and Anne Swift and Lee Lord. Attendees will also enjoy cocktails provided by Litchfield Distillery and music and production by Powerstation Events.

“With watersheds as with human community, connectivity is everything. We all live downstream and the only way to protect water quality and wildlife habitat at the watershed scale is to work together,” says HVA Executive Director Tim Abbott. “HVA’s charity auction is a celebration of the collaborative conservation at the heart of our work and the committed support of our membership that makes it possible.”

Seating is limited. Visit hvatoday.org to purchase event tickets and raffle tickets or to register for the silent auction.
