On Saturday, March 3 at 1 p.m. join Cary Institute Wildlife Biologist Mike Fargione and Dutchess Land Conservancy Senior Manager of Education Julie Hart for a tree identification workshop and walk.
Wise forest stewardship requires that landowners familiarize themselves with the woody plants on their property. Participants will learn to recognize native and invasive trees and shrubs by their shape, bark patterns, twigs, fruits, and seeds. They will also gain experience using identification keys.
There will be an indoor workshop followed by a walk. Wear boots and appropriate clothing and bring a hand lens or magnifying glass if you have one.
The program will begin at the main campus lobby, 2801 Sharon Turnpike (Rte. 44) in Millbrook, New York. Register online at caryinstitute.org/events. For more information, call (845) 677-7600 x 121. The event is co-sponsored by Dutchess Land Conservancy.
