The Housatonic Valley Association (HVA) owns and operates this website to further the conservation efforts of the Litchfield Hills Greenprint Collaborative and its member organizations. HVA is committed to preserving your privacy and safeguarding your information online. The following statement describes the general information-gathering and usage practices of our website.
Personal Information: When you visit our website, you do so anonymously. You may voluntarily choose to share personal information with us by electing to join our mailing list, making an online donation, serving as the point of contact for your member organization in the Litchfield Hills Greenprint Collaborative, or volunteering on the Litchfield Hills Greenprint Leadership Board. We do not sell or trade names or the personal data we collect on our website or hold in our database, nor do we maintain any credit card information. HVA’s fundraising practices also expressly assure protection against unauthorized use of all lists of public employee campaign contributions, and prevent the sale or other use of such contributor lists. In our database of supporters, we maintain the personal information you elect to share with us through this website—or that we receive when you make an online donation— in order to keep you abreast of our future work and related issues that may be of interest to you.
Opting Out: If you do not want to receive communications materials from us, you may opt out by notifying us by email through the Contact Us page, or by phone or fax.
Privacy and Security of Online Donations: Credit card donations made through our website are processed exclusively by EFT Corporation. EFT provides us with the ability to offer you safe, secure and private online transactions. When you make a donation to us through the Donate Now button on our website, EFT shares your contact information with us, (such as name, address, phone number and email address.) For further details about EFT’s privacy practices, please consult their privacy and confidentiality policy directly.
Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can ever be 100% secure. While we strive to protect your private information to the fullest extent, we cannot ensure or completely guarantee the security of such information.
IP Addresses and Cookies: An Internet Protocol (IP) address is the number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. We collect an IP address from all visitors to our website. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our website, analyze usage trends, and gather broad demographic information.
‘Cookies’ are small files sent from a web server to your computer through your browser program. There are two types of cookies: non-persistent and persistent cookies. A non-persistent cookie enables a website to temporarily keep information on your computer as you travel from one page to another on our site. This cookie is automatically deleted from your machine when you close your browser. Because these cookies are necessary to provide some functions, failure to allow such cookies will make our website unavailable to you.
Compliance with Law: Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA). This website is not directed toward children under 13 years of age nor does the Housatonic Valley Association knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not submit any personally identifiable information to this website. We are unable to reply to information requests from children under the age of 13, if so identified. A parent or guardian must initiate any requests for information from children under the age of 13 on their behalf. We encourage parents to supervise children when they browse the internet.
