OXFORD, CT — Oxford Main Street Project Volunteer Day sponsored by Thule Group of Seymour, CT and the Housatonic Valley Association. Volunteers from Thule Group and Housatonic Valley Association will be joined by resident volunteers and some business representatives from firms that want to sponsor their own Volunteer Day.
The volunteers will be eliminating invasive plants from the 17 acres of open-space across from the Oxford Town Hall. This is the site of the future Oxford Nature Preserve. Work on the street redesign for the municipal center will include a walkway, benches and lighting and the Oxford Nature Preserve Trail along Little River and Route 67. This work will begin this time next year.
So far, a total of $532,000.00 has been received through grants and other sources, including municipal funding, Oxford Community Support Grant, Valley Foundation, and the Katharine Matthies Foundation. Other grants have been submitted for the future extension of the Oxford Main Street Project. If you would like to join us this Friday or just get involved email Kathleen O’Neil grantadmin@oxford-ct.gov or call (203) 246-8460.
