Silent auction opens online Monday, November 11, at 2 p.m.
CORNWALL BRIDGE, CT, October 29, 2024—Gourmet dining experiences, getaways and local adventures are up for bid at the annual Housatonic Valley Association (HVA) Auction for the Environment on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at South Farms in Morris, Connecticut.
As HVA’s largest fundraiser of the year, the event has a profound impact on the organization’s work to restore and protect clean, cold waters and a sweeping woodland corridor across the entire Housatonic Valley, from the Berkshires through eastern New York and western Connecticut, down to Long Island Sound. The event begins at 3 p.m., and tickets are available in advance online.
In addition to the live auction’s in-demand and exclusive items, a silent auction, which opens online on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 2 p.m. and concludes during the event, features enticing packages including regional trips, restaurant certificates, museum and performance tickets, signed books and original artwork. HVA Board member Christine Baranski, critically acclaimed Emmy and Tony Award winning actress and star of CBS’s The Good Fight and HBO’s The Gilded Age, is chairing the Benefit Auction Committee with her daughter, Lily Cowles, and co-chairs Rebecca Neary and Elyse Harney Morris. Additional committee members are Pat Kennedy Lahoud, Pam and Jack Baker, Philippa Durant, Margo Martindale, Diane Meier, Seth and Alexi Meyers and Anne Swift and Lee Lord.
“It is more important than ever to come together and take actions that will preserve our environment for future generations,” says Neary, who also leads the Warren Land Trust. “Participating in HVA’s Auction for the Environment is a fun and effective opportunity to contribute to this mission,” she says.
Auctioneer Sherry Truhlar of Red Apple Auctions is back for another year and will take the stage at 4 p.m. for a fun afternoon of friendly competition. The rustic vibes of the White Barn at South Farms will paint the perfect backdrop, and Bantam Blooms will provide autumnal flower displays. Attendees will also enjoy cocktails by Litchfield Distillery, delicious bites by Executive Cuisine and music and production by Powerstation Events.
HVA Executive Director Lynn Werner says the auction is a celebration of the organization’s forward strides and the community’s support. “It’s a fun and lively afternoon—a great way to support our mission and help protect our remaining forests, wildlife corridors, and the more than 400 miles of rivers and streams across this place we love.”
