- Stream Team River Assessments (Now until late fall 2018)
Volunteers are needed this fall to help complete stream assessments on the Konkapot Rivers. Volunteers will assist staff with collecting information along a 1 – 2 mile segment of the river. Various dates will be scheduled. West Branch and SW Branch River Cleanups (in partnership with BEAT)
Saturday, August 18 9am – 1pm Meet behind 703 West Housatonic Street, Pittsfield (Thank you Blue Q!) Crews will be dispersed up and down the West Branch and Southwest Branches the Housatonic River in Pittsfield as we continue to clean these tributaries of accumulated trash. Gloves and trash bags, lunch and snacks and Blue Q Goodie Bags are provided. Bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and wear old clothes (preferably long pants). We have some hip waders and chest waders available to borrow, or wear a pair of old sneakers that you don’t mind getting wet. We will use canoes to move trash.- Housatonic River Cleanup in LEE (in partnership with Lee’s Greener Gateway Committee) Saturday, September 29 9am – 1pm Meet at the Lee Athletic Field
Crews will be dispersed up between Lucky’s and the Athletic Field the Housatonic River in Lee. Gloves and trash bags, are provided. Bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and wear old clothes (preferably long pants). Wear a pair of old sneakers that you don’t mind getting wet. Some crews will use HVA’s canoes to move people and trash up and down the river. Pizza lunch to follow (Thank you Big Y in Lee!) High water/pouring rain cancels. To register, call 413-298-7024 or email adixon@hvatoday.org. - Old Mill Trail Work Party (in partnership with Berkshire Natural Resources Council) Saturday, October 27 9am – 1pm Meet at the trail head on Old Dalton Road, Hinsdale.
A variety of tasks will be completed including raking, replacing trail markers, removing invasive plants, and other necessary tasks. To register, call 413-298-7024 or email adixon@hvatoday.org. - Rain Garden Maintenance (Now until late fall 2018)
HVA assists the City of Pittsfield with the maintenance of the 10 rain gardens on North Street. Become a “Rain Garden Angel” and take care of one of the 10 gardens on North Street. We’ll provide all equipment. - Tabling Events: Call 413-298-7034 to learn about upcoming dates.
